Safari Swing Away Tire Carriers (Mantec I think)

Also just received a bunch of Safari Tire Carriers. I think these are made for Mantec. Complete kit with hardware and instructions. Looks as though they will work with the NAS ladder setup.

Its not exactly like the Mantec I bought from you last year, but very close. Maybe the Bearmach? Mantec products are usually stamped "mantec" somewhere, even though its not easy to see. My snorkel is stamped under on the fender plate, and the carrier I think is stamped on the back of the plate facing the door (and there is a sticker on the plunger thing). Also, the lower bracket is a little different. Looks like a good option though - just check that lower bracket to ensure it doesn't interfere with the NAS step bumper.

Man Stephen I wish you told me you had this coming in with your container. I'm gonna hold off buying anything else until I come to your place this weekend to pick up my frame.

I was told these are the Safari Ones made for or close to Mantec. The company I buy from makes many items for various UK vendors. Thanks for the info I have passed along several Mantec carriers but never installed one.

Yeah, I get the ideal that only a couple places make all the stuff that's on the market. I wonder if Mantec has their own production facilities?

It isn't the Bearmach. I have that one and it is different from the one pictured. This one looks like a great option at a reasonable price though, plus it looks like it has zerk fittings to grease the pivots which the Bearmach lacks.

can someone please explain why a swing-away tire carrier is desirable? is it just to get the weight of the tire off the door?

Ah Tom, I'll have to look for pix of what the spare did to the original door on my 110. Even if you are careful about closing the door, road vibrations will eventually destroy your rear door with the 75 pound tire hanging off the spindly stock carrier.

Let me know anytime you need justification to buy something. Convoluted justifications are a specialty of mine.
