Good question. As long as the draw of your winch is under the 800A limit of the connector you're fine. It all depends on the draw. Do you have a single or dual battery set up?

How would the cable coming from the winch physically hook up to this connector, though? Would I put the truck's main hot cable as well as the winch hot cable into the screw-down connector? Same goes for the negative side. I suppose I could use a high amperage bus bar.

I agree that current draw should be plenty within 800A, as my winch draws a max of 425A and the rest of the truck and accessories can't possibly be pulling another 375A. I have a single battery for now, with plans for dual batt in the future.

Just trying to confirm this will fit my application. Open to ideas. Thanks for the help!

I'm an electrical novice so someone else on here is much better suited answering your question. I assume your winch cables are 1GA. Obviously you can't fit two 1GA cables onto a connector that fits a max size of 1GA. A Bus Bar sound like a good idea to me. Anyone else have suggestions?

1 day Extension

Not too late and I can extend the deadline until tonight as I am going on a mountain bike day trip all day today so I won't get to this until tonight anyway. Thanks everyone!

There are a lot of factors to consider, but according to this calculator, a 1ft (0.3m) length of 1 gauge wire can handle 800 amps with less than a 2% voltage drop.

http://www.solar-wind.co.uk/cable-sizing-DC-cables.html

So a short length of good quality cable to a bus bar should work fine imho

Thanks Charles.

Another member also made a great suggestion to solder the end of the cut cable before clamping it into the OJOP connector. That way it won't fray as the clamp screws are tightened.

I don't claim to be an expert but there is pretty fierce debate on this. Some say pressure only crimp is the way to go.
