GRP Door Kits are ready

We have finally gotten our GRP doors figured out!

This is now version three; we have been working on these for over a year both here and in the UK.

The doors are exact copies of TDCI front, second row and rear doors. All mounting points are the same; the fit and finish is great.

They will not rust, dent nor ding. They weigh less than Genuine yet still have the satisfying “clunk” of a solid door…not the typical Defender rattle!

These are not cheap and all we are billing is the standard cost + markup and 2 hours labor. We have an incredible amount of R+D invested in this. Truth is I really just wanted a set for my truck…..and guess who does not have a set

We get the doors slightly cleaned up from the mold as they need a bit of finish work on this end. We build the door and test fit all pieces then disassemble, prep, seal and prime the door so that it is ready for shipping. It will not be “out of the box” ready to top coat. Reasonably, shipping doors is a nightmare! No matter how well packed they get jostled a bit. it makes much more sense to do the final 10% of prep and top coat on your end.

We reinstall all of the hard wear and test so that, sans final paint, it is 100% ready to go.

We will paint the inside prior to the final hardware install for $150 additional for both so all that is needed is a bit of final exterior prep then tape off the inside and top coat.

All parts on the inside are new. We use a combo of Genuine and aftermarket to make sure you get the most bang for the buck. On the power doors the window motor and crank as well as the lock motor and all associated parts are new Genuine; it just works better!

We modified the exterior handles so that they use the older “Non TDCI” key. This way you do not end up with one giant random key! The locks are supplied with new matching keys and cylinders. We will toss in the extras @ no charge so you can key your other doors.


The power doors are quite a spectacle! I am sure we have all seen the “Bill and Ted” back yard power door conversion! It is generally just crap. We have built a stand alone harness that is 100% Genuine all the way to the wire color and connectors. It is a TDCI harness that will fit into ANY Defender. The harness carries lock and window control, a dome light switch wire (for older truck retrofit) and a speaker wire just cuz. We supply the OEM condoms to pass through to the pillars. Everything you need is included.

The harness is available in correctly labeled Carling switches or Td5/TDCI switches. We make an adaptor sub harness so that you can swap switches at a later date yet keep the same harness.

Right now the harness is front door only with an option for a rear power tail door soon to be in hand. If there is demand we will make a 2nd row harness as well.

The harness is ambidextrous; either front door can be the master depending on LHD or RHD.

New door cards are provided in either black or dark grey. Each card is custom fitted to the individual door.

The front power doors are $3750 for two with harness. Yep, it is expensive. Remember all of this is 100% Genuine! They will work, work right and last forever.

We also have a non power front door option. This is the exact same as above but, guess what? Non powered! These are $2350 a set.

Non powered 2nd row is available now and will be $2225 a set.

The tail door non powered will be fully figured out by Christmas I hope!

The pictures below show doors in various stages of build. The parts are NOT NEW in the pictures; the parts on the kit doors will be new.

David since you are still in the making the custom harness up stage, the tdci drivers door central locking harness needs two more wires than the passenger side, they aren't the same. The drivers door actuator/controller has a 4 pin connector and the other four doors use a two pin connector. I know this because I had Zack re-order me the special/different harness for the different drivers door actuator and I had to wait a week for it, couldn't find the unique 4 pin plug anywhere to make my own so waited for one from the UK.

Hi

Good point but we are well past that. Harness is built in such a way that you can fit master to either side and use a conversion sub harness as needed.

The idea was one harness that works either side. You will end up with the two wires on one side or the other not being used.

The connectors are an adventure for sure as is the correct color coded wire!

Will you have the harnesses avail separately If someone already has a set of OE doors with power windows? Basically to wire up the doors to the truck.
