front axle guard

Thats good.

Barry,

Asfir is from Israel and they build all types of skid plates, bumpers and accessories for Land Rover and others.
They are also involved in defense, imagine that from Israel.

This design pretty much takes your low point of the bottom of the diff and extends it all the way across the axle.

Is that really what you want to do? Not trying to nit pick but I'm really curious about the design and why.

It is a similar design to the southdown and these are both used by military and off roaders around the world.

It has never been an issue for me personally. I have driven Defenders with or without the axle guard and the ground clearance issue is minimal. However the added protection of the steering link is a real plus. Its just a different way to approach protecting the diff and the steering in one simple step.

front axle guard

Thought I would post this picture of the axle guard on my 110. As you can see the diff is still the lowest point but the steering link is protected and the decrease in overall ground clearance is minimal. The skid plate is designed to take the impact if you misjudge how tall that rock is on the trail.

Looks good! The design makes a lot of sense when you see it from that angle.
