What's the "pro" of a fiberglass bonnet vs. Aluminum? I'm in the market.

cost, weight, availability, ease of "ding removal". Those would be my guesses at least.

Price, availability, longevity

The Genuine looks a bit better if the two are next to each other but that is not likely to happen in the US

Honestly, the alumn is better overall until it gets dinged or walked on. GRP wont ding and will last for ever. You can walk on GRP; no go on alumni.

So pull the hardware off my old aluminum bonnet and transfer to the fiberglass? Is that all I'd need besides paint to make a fiberglass bonnet work?

Only if you currently have a TDCI bonnet

Not exactly true, most will swap over but it depends on year. Only real difference is plunger thread size. These are the larger size for NAS/Td5/300 tdi etc...older 200 tdi, 2.5, V8 will need a new plunger

I really wish I needed one of these! I love the product and your business acumen! I wish someone would consider making a non-puma GRP bonnet. I prefer the original look for my '95 but not all my dents!

If they are similar in price to the one you have listed here, I'm in for an old style too! Mine looks like it's been walked all over, which is strange because the spare tire blocks most of it.

Did you ever get a price?

The main reason I assumed I wanted to wait for a fiberglass bonnet, is because I assume a new td5 bonnet would be a lot more. If not, even better.
