People should only have plates made that were the original registration of the vehicle in the UK ... otherwise I'll nominate every defender with a fake UK plate into Land Rovers that suck thread!

Funny enough I never thought anyone would make a "fake" number plate. I thought more along the lines of a vanity plate with some sort of 8 character statement.

Please insist on seeing a copy of the V5 before making a plate ... ;-)

Thought the making of these was VERY strictly controlled in the UK.
I can recall almost every plate my parents had.

The making of a plate with a reg number requires the paperwork to be entered and to match DVLA records so it is very tightly controlled.

Making a plate that says "big king" is not

Y'all can get screwed...I'll have whatever plate I like made...correct registration or not.. As long as it is not displayed on a vehicle within the uk reg zone it has zero legal ramifications....custom european vanity plates have been around for years..

The comment was nothing to do with legality ... it was to do with every British ex-pat looking vehicles with a psuedo British plate and thinking ... what a cock!

Much like if you traveled to the UK and saw a Corvette with fake american plates ... you'd think ... hmmm whats that idiot doing?

Its the difference between wanting the genuine article or being happy with a fake.

So how do you tell what is a fake number vs one that has say.. Your initials and the year.... ?? Without running off to check vin against reg number through the dvla how would you know it's not the original..???..

Format ... there are format nuances and structures to the main licence plates. Plates without year letters or numbers pre date defenders!

So yep ... we'd know!

Most ROW defenders are LHD. UK Defender and a few others are RHD.

I hate when people misuse the ROW acronym.

Yes I have a bug up my ass.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled bickering

Technically NAS defenders are a derivative of RoW if you live in the UK!

All NAS trucks are LHD
Some ROW Trucks are RHD
ergo the only truck that would be converted to LHD would be a ROW.

Making my statement fundamentally correct...

now, onto the interesting bit,

What kind of bug?

UK market trucks are not ROW. ROW is as it pertains to the UK. Not the USA.

To answer your further question,

DHS, standard issue listening device. I'll be at NOVA happy hour tomorrow filling up on chili and beans.
