Announcing the Tiktaalik Field Knife set

I will be launching the Field Knife set on Kickstarter this June. The Field Knife set is a compact and lightweight collection of 3 professional quality Stainless Steel knives for indoor and outdoor cooking. The set consists of a 3.5” pairing knife, a 6” serrated knife, and a 6” Chef’s knife made from Sandvik 12C27 Swedish Stainless Steel.

The Field Knife Set was born out of my desire to evolve, simplify and distill the traditional cooking knife into a tool equally appropriate for indoor and outdoor use without compromising on performance or quality. It's designed for travel, camping and outdoor cooking yet it is not a compromise for home use.

I am a marketing department of one so I need all the help I can get. Please spread the word. If this sounds of interest to you, you can sign up here to receive development updates and exclusive notifications leading up the to Kickstarter launch. Thanks everyone!

Great idea....especially for us outdoor gourmets! Will they come in a sheath or a knife roll?

There will eventually be a couple of different storage options. One being a thin pencil case type aluminum box.

What Price point are you thinking?
Not having a handle may affect comfort in using on anything but slicing air.

The price points will be very reasonable for the quality level. The lack of grip does not affect the comfort. If held properly it is more comfortable than a standard Chef's Knife due to how it is designed. It is designed to be held with a pinch-grip, the way Chefs hold a knife. The proper way to hold a knife when cooking. Once you get it in your hand you get it.

I did a little photo shoot (and beer drinking) yesterday. Here's a photo of the pairing knife. The beer glass is from my friend North Drinkware who are making hand-blown beer glasses with mountain peaks in the bottom. This one is of Mount Hood and is called The Oregon Pint.

The set will come in a thin aluminum case and I have future storage options planned as well.

Kickstarter looks awesome Carl. Now I actually know how to say tiktaalik. Just FYI you have a couple different prices for that field dinner option on your page.
