I ordered a set of the small light guards. Very tempted by the grille but I have other stuff I need to repair before I do any more upgrades.

Any word on the LR3?

Cheers,

Re: the LR3. Nothing yet. I'm watching local. Also have Ben Bailey keeping an eye out in Portland area. The one in Bend sold unfortunately.

I dropped off all cut parts at the fabricator today. Should be tumbled and welded by Tues-Wed next week. Then off to get hard anodized which is a 5 day turnaround. The only thing that is seeing a possible delay right now is the hardware. Not a lot of off the shelf options for the thread-making plastic type screws so I am looking into getting something custom tooled. If you guys are ok with it, the hardware may ship later. I'm narrowing down quotes right now and trying to find out lead time. If I do go down the custom path it'll be Black Oxide Stainless Steel Torx Bolts for all.

Final Prototype Photos

Here's a couple of photos of the final Grill design currently in production. The tumbler is being installed today. All parts should go in it today. I'm pushing for an ETA but have yet to hear back.

Mark. I have yet to test them with square lights. In theory yes, but I need volunteer. Local ideally.

Finally.

The brand new tumbler is up and running and its producing a much better result than the one we had to outsource. I wasn't happy with the outcome because the edges were still sharp. This is more like it after two hours in the tumbler. All parts for guards and grills and bottle openers are going through this process currently. Seen here is the bottle opener and a keyring I made as an extra gift to those of you who have been waiting so patiently for your pre-orders.

Headlight Surround Prototype

Here are some photos the Headlight Surround Sample.

The bad news first. I thought I had sent them the revised file but alas I had not so the lamp hole locations are off....again. Doh! I have been working on this for so long sometimes I forget where I left off. The good news is it looks killer. You're looking at the raw aluminum here but it can be anodized black or painted. This design is smaller than the plastic version and it sits inside the reveal on the front wing as opposed to bleeding over it. It makes for a cleaner, simpler finish that is more reminiscent of the Series design.

These are going to be killer, guys. I know they're pricy but its due to tooling costs. No one makes anything like this. Hurry up an pre-order one now while they're discounted!

When you see all the individual bits, you realize just how much work goes into the production of these.

Let alone all the prototyping!

Thanks! It means a lot to hear that someone actually understands this. Often when people complain about price they don't understand whats involved. It is very different when you're churning out something by the millions by low wage workers in China. I don't even want to think about what goes into the prototyping portion. It's almost been a year since I started these! I know it would have been more efficient if I had been able to concentrate on it full time instead of working on it here and there. Not to mention I've changed vendors 3 times already. Thanks for the encouraging words.

Thanks David! It wouldn't be as daunting if it wasn't for the fact that I am also developing a 5th product which has been taking up a fair amount of time as well. I am also occasionally trying to do work that actually pays so I can keep the lights on and the family fed. I'm sure you'll like this adventure product. I'll give you all a sneak peek soon. To all of you who have pre-ordered, thanks for helping to make this happen! We're on the home stretch.
