97 NAS 90 console cubby inserts, finally!

After many do-overs (to get the perfect fit), we finally have the repo 1997 NAS Defender 90 full size cubby box inserts in hand!
It was a real struggle to get the fit exactly the way we wanted it and keep the thickness of the plastic (we wanted them to be tough as well) but that is likely because we are very picky.
We will be pricing these shortly and they will be available mail order to everyone. More information coming very soon.

Thanks

I thought we were waiting on you to tell us they were effectively available, with pricing. Should I just call up and reserve a spot with the next batch? Many thanks.. Need this bad.

Sorry, they are $120.
There will be plenty to go around so you can call and leave your name or I will post back here when they are in stock again.

Thanks

When they were last available, years ago, they were 130. from LRNA.

Seen these go on eBay for much more than $120. And I can't remember the last time that any big '97 console bits were there..

I'll take one of these when the next batch is available. Any chance you guys are going to do the same with the rest of the 97 console? I saw that you were looking to buy those used from 97 owners. Do you mind telling me what you use to restore the consoles that you buy used for automatic conversions or restorations. I've tried a few products in hidden spots and nothing is really taking hold. I can't imagine you paint them, but I'd love to know how you guys restore them.

I'm happy to know it seems to be priced fairly.
What we do on items like this is take the production costs and divide by the number of units made. We need these pieces for in shop projects, so making money on them isn't really the goal. The goal is just to have them available.

No plans for the entire console at this time.
We have been lucky with good used ones so far, but we have very few left.

Making these plastic parts was a PITA, not really sure I want to try and tackle a console.

I pulled my entire console out of the truck, removed the screwed in parts (cubby/lid/whatnot), and let my 6-yr old spray an entire bottle of original Armor-All over the whole thing.. Then I let it sit for a week in the garage, on the floor. We then wiped off the excess and put it back in. Still looks great after a couple months. I also replaced the shifter, surround, small gaiter, and a few other items (some found here: http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co...ewCat&catId=67, or on various websites) and it all looks great. We'll see how long that lasts. Could still use a new lid, though. And a new cubby.

So this replaces the area where the cd changer used to be right?

When your 97 NAS 90 was born it had one of these. A dealer then tossed it and installed the CD "kit" in your truck that included the changer, a cable, some brackets and the changer style cubby insert.

If you want to go back to "stock" and get rid of the changer... this is the piece.

Bump

We have shipped a number of these now and I wanted to let folks know some details about this project.

We had these made so that we would have them for in shop use, but we needed to offset costs, so we had more made, but not that many more. We will be putting some away for our in shop stash and the rest are for sale to the public, but when those are gone... they are gone. We will not be getting any more batches made.

Just FYI so that when/if you call in 2 months asking for one and they are again NLA you'll know why.

Thanks
