Talking Yeastie Goes West!

For any who are interested I am the one who bought Yeastie (JimC's old truck/Ron's old old truck). It was delivered today by Jim's Dad who towed it to me from West Point, NY. He is a really great guy and I wish he had more time to hang around, he has some funny stories. At one point he told me " If you do that I will shoot your dog, and if you don't have a dog I will go get you one and then shoot it." I guess you had to be there. Just want to say thanks so much to Jim for making this happen. As some of you know I lost my 95 SW in an accident and I have been roverless for two months now. I have posted some pics on picsa (http://picasaweb.google.com/byronisc...y=UDiImz6hwQ0#) for thoes of you interested. It will be well taken care of and will be the star of our weding June 6th (Don't tell my wife that she thinks she is the star, silly girl). If you can from the pics try and figure out why it is called "Yeastie". Also, thatnks to Ron for all of his knowledge in answering my questions and letting his pm inbox fill up probably because of me. Anyway, it is GREAT to have a 90 again!

Congrats!

That softtop came from my first D-90, the red 94 #1329 I think (it is in the gallery).

I love this picture of my house (pre garage)

Are those wheels on Yestie the ones that came stock on NAS defender back in 94? I remember being all of 18, and going to Prestige Land Rover in Paramus NJ and seeing a brand new defender in there inventory. It had no top, no full cage, and those wheels. I could have sworn at the time the alloys were an option with everything else.

Technically alloys were an option on 1994 defenders, but yeastie and every other one I have seen (other than one in a brouchure) had alloys. When I got yeastie she had NATOs and swampers so I put those DI steelies on and eventually sold her to JimC with those wheels and a set of proper D() style alloys as well.

Oh God!! Byron, you lasted 2 months without a Rover, was there an intervention?!
The definition of Addiction " The quality or condition of being addicted, esp. to a habit forming
substance" Addicted is defined as "To occupy or involve (oneself) habituallly or compulsively."
Crap - that pretty much rounds up everyone on this site.

General question, I see Yeastie has the gas cap located just behind the passenger door.
What's the deal with the location of it? My ST '94 has it located further back.

Now excuse me, my hands are starting to tremble, vision blurring, stomach churning... must go touch my truck.., must get tranny juice on hands... got to... ( I do not have a problem)

The first owner (Fruitpunch) installed a ROW tank with a series land rover filler. I think me, JimC and now bstraw all want to replace that fender and install a proper ROW filler.

It is at the same height as the NAS one I think.

What does the ROW filler look like? I thought they were like ours but in front of the wheel well.

Andrew, I think they are like ours but in front of the right rear wheel. And yes Ron you are correct, I want to change it to ROW, or do like JimC has done. Put a filler hole in the top of the tank, and just fill it by taking the PS seat out. That way there is no "second" hole in the panel. Maybe it would look better painted green or something, but to me it just looks weird. By the way, I was at Carquest today and have all ready been asked if I wanted to sell it. My reply was no. And to Paul.....I feel your pain man, there should be a support group.

Personally I kind of like the series fill, but what would you do if you went to the ROW fender? Would you swap the NAS filler over to it and still have two? I think I would rather have two in the side than one inside the truck. It seems like that would cause the vehicle to smell like gas when you fill the tank.

I am thinking of having my Dad, a body man for many years, replicate the one that is in the back and fab it to the front. The square on the ROW would not match the rear one very well either. I think it would look best if they both matched. I did not know that the ROW's where square.

Yeah, that sounds like a good plan. It should look good. BTW, congrats on the new truck!
