How much?? Are they sensitive to that kind of mix?

One of my Tdi mentors advised me to add a little gas to the diesel in freezing temps to prevent freeze-up.

Nomar, on older engines you could get away with it, on newer stuff it is not a good idea. Older TDIs had injection pressures around 3500 PSI, newer ones can be up to 25000 PSI.

I think VW's issue with additives is the "anti-gelling" stuff, not so much power service and others that are supposed to enhance lubricity.

Correctly blended winter fuel should be more that enough - It's all I feed my fleet of diesels down to -44C... But I run an older TDI (2001).

Got a letter from VWoA today extending the warranty for the HPFP out to 10y/120k. Might keep it a wee bit longer now. Looks like they finally admitted defeat.

So the class actions worked...a couple years and thousnads of dollars late for a lot of friends and family though. I wonder if BMW also relented...and I worry about this problem with the new Rover TDV6.

As someone contemplating going with a tdi Golf Sportswagen, I'm hoping to monitor their reliability for a couple of years before diving in.
I was seriously freaked out by the HPFP issues a couple of years ago.

There is a warranty extension reimbursement form in the envelope as well. People who paid out of pocket for repairs should be able to get reimbursed...

Does the free Warranty extension only apply to fuel system?
