Wrecked Defender w/ 300Tdi in Fort Worth

I have no connection to this but I thought some one might be interested. I talked to a guy over there and he said the engine/transmission... is $4500 or at least that's what their hoping to get. Does anyone no what happened to this defender? Hopefully the driver had an eject button!

Looks like a couple windows... sounded like they were planning on pulling the engine/transmission out to part separately. It's a fixer upper

Personally I'd rather have a high mileage setup than one out of a truck wrecked that hard. Look @ how twisted all up everything in the engine bay is. They are right to pull it so you can't see how f'd up it is. I guarantee all the mounts are broken and that engine thrashed around. Look @ the inter-cooler and radiator hoses and how the engine appears to be resting on the turbo against the frame rail. I wouldn't be surprised if the turbo was broken/ cracked by that blow. Need more than luck of the irish when buying that heap.

Not to mention that there's a fair chance the engine was running when the vehicle was on it's side or upside down. I doubt the driver, even if he was conscious, had the wits to shut it down after the accident.

If that vehicle was occupied at time of impact I doubt the driver escaped death or at least ending as a veggie platter. Hope vehicle was parked and some runaway train mowed it.

It was violent enough to knock the rear axle completely out from under the truck. I don't think a roll cage or sliders would have helped much with that kind of impact.

What? Totally cherry ride, It will all buff right out in an afternoon.

Merely a flesh-wound.

There are likely a good handful of usable parts, but most are just hardware and brackets off of the right side. I'd go pick & pluck in person but would't want to buy any parts with structural or critical operational roles.
