Would you G-Wagen (2019)?

Just curious, if money were no object, would you trade in your current Defender for the new Mercedes G-Wagen?

Doesn’t the 2019 lose the solid front axle for IFS?

One good thing about ifs is that it allows for the use of a rack and pinion

I guess standard g-wagen diffs could be used in an ifs setup - pro-rock or currie style, kind of like a koh buggy.

Downside is having to run an extra pair of CV's up front. I guess if you beefed them up a lot, then it can be stout.

G-wagons had crappy articulation anyway. Not sure it will hurt anything.

I'm pretty much done with Mercedes since they have gotten so electrically complicated. Everyone I know with a late model Mercedes has had multiple issues. An old diesel G-wagen has a lot of appeal - this - not so much.

Nope. ST's are the business, and if I traded up, then I couldn't find my truck in a parking lot typically full of other Mercedes "G"rocery getters.

Stupid question! Why would you ask that question on the Defender forum in the first place? We are all Defender enthusiast!

The question would be, would you buy the new MB G wagen?

Yes, I would buy the new Gwagen and keep the Defender (NAS or ROW)

No, I have way too much invested in the form of blood, sweat, tears and $$$.

Otherwise, yes- especially if the G is available in RHD.

Should change the parameters to this question now.

Factory Works Defender V8 or 2019 G-Wagen?
