It was like the Dutch coach picked up the Brazilian coaches playbook. I'm very sad.

I'm not a fan of Germany or Argentina so I guess the WC is over for me. It was a fun ride, only 4 more years till the next one!

I am gutted but I would not go that far. Argentina played a complete defensive game. Vlaar completely shut Messi down and the Argentines almost completely shut Robben down. Van Persie has a stomach bug so he was useless and should not have started as he was no where near 100%. Huntelaar should have started with Van Persie riding the pine. Brazil had nothing to offer. Holland played a game but had difficulties getting past the Argentine bus.

Best national team to never win a cup.

I said at the beginning that Germany will take it and I still believe that they will. Neutralize Messi like the Dutch did and then attack. The one thing that Germany has more of than any other team are attackers. They should completely chew Argentina up.

Well, Euro 2016 is coming up and I will be interested to see what Ruud does with them. I am bummed that Kuyt is retiring after the Cup though. He is my favorite. Unsung key player.

Rightful humiliation of Brazil complete. Now, maybe, all the band wagon fans will go away.

Sad Kuyt is retiring though. Irreplaceable.

Solari will be fired on By Monday.

Hoping for a Germany win 3-0 over Argentina, who frankly only have one or two player carrying them, just like Brazil.

I predicted Germany for taking the whole thing at the beginning. They just have too much of a complete team for everyone. From their keeper on forward. Complete. Argentina relies upon two people. They will play about 95% defense. Just watch.

Messi getting player of the tournament, what a joke. He was not even player of the tournament. There are 5 or 6 players that had a better tournament than him. But, I guess when you are the poster boy for FIFA and soccer in general, you need to give him something.

Such a complete joke to give it to him. Howard, Dempsey, Robben, Rodriguez (Colombia), Vlaar, Kuyt, Mueller, and so many more. He did nothing worthy of that award.

That prize should go to Robben, without a doubt.

Cheers

Really enjoyed the games.
In all fairness, Messi had better games than today, but you have to look at who the competition was and how well he played in all the games.
Germany did a good job of contending with Messi.

The Argentine coach is smart and shifted his strategy to counter the opposition and give the best chance of victory.
Argentina completely shifted their play and line up to counter the Dutch who made no changes and played the same old predictable strategy.
Robben and Van Persie are a tough duo to contend with and Argentina shut them down.
I agree that there were perhaps better choices for an award, but someone needs to get it and Messi wasn't a terrible choice, just probably not the best pick.

Robben did a game changing flop (diving to fake he was fouled) that he admitted to later.
That most likely kept him out of the running.
