A Rambo Style Eviction
Agents of the National Police accompanied by an officer of the State appeared early on the morning of this Tuesday and proceeded to remove the gentleman Ignacio Abreu Peralta, who together with his family was living in a little house in the community of Big Corral, Dajabón.
On having found out of what was happening, the local inhabitants came to support Ignacio in order that he was not removed. The police agents using teargas bombs and shots dispersed the local persons.
As a result of this clash there turned out to be three wounded persons: Rafael Perez, a young man only identified as Ignacio, and Milagros Abreu. They moved Rafael Perez to the Ramon Matias Mella Hospital in Dajabón together with Milagros Abreu, but the latter was referred in delicate state to the city of Santiago due to the fact that he received shot blasts in the chest.
Meanwhile, Ignacio refused to be moved to the hospital, since he did not want to be removed from the house.
The state police proceeded to destroy the little house that had been constructed and where Ignacio was residing together with his family many years.
This fact provoked reactions on the part of the inhabitants of Big Corral, who demonstrated that in Dajabón there are no authorities, because the police are baleando(?) and striking the poor people, and that they do it in an arbitrary way.
They condemn that neither the district attorney nor any of his assistants were present at this place.
