Here is a decently comprehensive site going over the Hurricanes that have hit NC. This one is following the same path as Fran and Floyd. I remember eating off a Coleman stove for a week after those two. If this is Cat 3 when she makes landfall we could be in some trouble.

Thank you guys for your concerns, wasn't that bad, north coast got a little beat up but surfers are happy.

now watching this closely- most models have this coming up the Chesapeake as a Cat 1 or better. Got to decide to have the boat hauled before the few marina's with high ground get filled up.

5.9 earthquake and a Cat 1 Hurricane in the same week in the mid Atlantic- wtf ?

Isabel was even a Biatch for us in MD.... destroyed many costal areas, many boats got loose from their slips

They've fizzled out before to tropical storms these past few years, so hopefully it'll happen again.

I have a bunch of pictures just like this after Isabel.

Hate to see what they would pay out in this market. Boat US used to reimburse haul out fees if you were trying to avoid a hurricane- going to call them tomorrow and see if they still will.

I say us NOVA folks load up Doug's boat with Rover parts Noah's ark style. Someone has to populate the new world with Rover parts. We'd make a killing in sales.

Maybe the Second Fleet would be a better choice, better hurry as they are steaming out.

See you Sun about 3am then. Marina wants $310 to take it out of the water for a day-have to decide in the next 18hrs or so. Amazing how these track/path models keep changing. Thats one of the problems with this one, 4-5am is predicted storm surge here. Isabel was a cat 1 and the surge was 8ft. The dude 2 the marina says 12+ possible this time-4 feet is a lot when a lot isn't much above sea level here.

JL,
Looking @ doing just that. Reserved a chunk of high ground @ a marina on Kent Island-dude says I have to have it there by 4pm tomorrow or he gives up my spot. Its about a 20 mile run but she's a 30knt boat.
Going to push the envelope a bit more and see what the storm does-probably won't decide till 2:30 tomorrow afternoon, $310 saved if storm stays east.

Weigh the cost of fuel to get there and back too!

Weigh the replacement cost of your boat as well!
This storm is huge and regardless of it's exact track or whether it's a Cat 3, 2,or 1, the storm surge will be great and so will the damage.
Better safe than sorry.

I meant versus the $310 at the marina he docks at. Unless there is no room at his and this is $310 at the other place. I dunno, just trying to help. I'll shut up now
