I'm thinking about putting one into mine. I'm sure there's a thread about this but I can't find it.

Anything you do to your truck will reduce its value, including driving it. Its a conveyance not an investment.

You will have trouble selling it if it needs to be emissions tested at its new location. If not I think it would possibly add value.

And even if it does add value to some potential buyers, it will likely not be to the point of offsetting your costs to buy and have it installed if the swap is not completely necessary (i.e. your V8 is working just fine).

Nothing to add regarding value...that said I would never buy another V8 rover (unless it was a chevy tahoe swap), I say do what you want!
But look out in terms of registering in CA....
