What do you mean? That's not how you work on your D-90?

That picture is posted on the refrigerator at my fire station. For one of the firemen I work with that picture is especialy meaningful. He was crushed earlier this year while working under his lowered 72 Chevy truck. He had the front wheels up on ramps and put it in gear. He was underneath changing his oil when his 4 year old son climbed in and knocked it out of gear causing the truck to roll backward crushing my friend. The drop axle landed on his chest. He was under the truck for almost 10 minutes. He was flown to the hospital and we were told he would not make it through the night. The happy ending is that he was back to work in less than a month, suffering only a bruised lung and broken ribs. As to any lasting brain damage? Well the jury is still out on that. I have worked in South Central and East Los Angeles as a paramedic fireman for 16 years and I have lost count of the times I have pulled people out from under cars and trucks because of stupid moves like the one in the picture. Job security I guess.

That's effective and efficient. The gas explosion will knock out the timber and position him for a perfect impact.

Forget the explosion...if he decides to take a break and back out of the truck...he'll be sure to knock out at least one of the supports and BAM.....
