Why has this not sold yet?

I have had my truck on the market for quite a while and I want to know why it is that nobody seems to be interested.
http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...0-a-61038.html

Is it the body style? RHD? Condition? Price?

I know the three door is less desirable but it makes a really great platform for traveling solo or with a partner. I have slept very comfortably in the six foot bed and still had plenty of room for all my gear. The Tithonus trucks seem to move quickly, of course they are refreshed nicely, but this has a hard top with Windows you don't have to cut out yourself. A full length gutter mount roof rack that holds a RTT provides cavernous secure dry storage in the truck.

It has seen better days but it's still a solid truck. There was some rust repair I did early on but the frame is good to go from what I can see. I could cover it all up with POR15 but I don't think that always comes across as an honest move.

I'm just looking for some suggestions because I would like to find a new home for this truck.

I think it looks like too much work for the price. It's not like you're asking for the moon, but it's not a bargain.

It's been my daily driver for a long time so I wouldn't call it a project truck, but that's all relative I suppose. Both of you see it that way so I'll have to defer to the consensus.

So where should the price be?

I've got a 5 door for 10k less that hasn't moved either. Bubble of desire has popped would be my guess, or more people are just importing their own trucks now.

I think price, RHD and 3-door....well, that and I think the market for first time buyers does not really understand all the mechanical work that you have actually done (or had done) to it.

I think this might be an accurate assessment.

I've seen the truck in question up close at Uwharrie and it is very tidy.
Not much of a project at all.
But given the current state of the market I would guess upper teens is closer.

You willing to try eBay?

I think the price is too high by 10k. I'd sell my 5 door for that $25k price if I could get it. It has already had the bulkhead footwells fixed and relatively newish tcase and trans and all new seats and hardly any more leaks.

I think the market for working trucks is gone. The only people still buying these want shiny paint and big rims. Get adapters and 18-20" wheels and a shitty spray job and it'll sell. "Dealers" keep selling trucks like yours with heinous overspray and paint on things like vent seals and folks ooooh and aaaah over it all the time on here.

I have lowered the price as time goes on. I put it on Craigslist for 19.5 I think. Isn't the defender tdi worth a bit of a premium still?

I haven't put it on eBay yet but maybe it's time. I could coat the frame and get a paint job then it will draw attention

Could also be location. There may be a lot of similar trucks closer to metropolitan areas where the money is. Therefore, all else being relatively equal, the closer trucks are cheaper by virtue of shipping and also more of a known quantity due to the ability to be inspected in person.

Price might be OK but quite honestly abq doesn't seem like the kind of place where there are a lot of prospective buyers with the kind of cash you're looking for.

Metropolitan areas where brand new range rovers and gwagens are a common sight might have more play.

Most certainly, provided the prospective buyer really understands that change. The "ooh-it's-so-shiny-with-great-big-wheels" buyer may not get it.

I think you may be right in that a coat of paint (and some rear seating) will likely help.

If you coat the frame, just take some time-stamped before and after shots for anyone with rust questions. Easy peasy.

Anyway, it's a great truck with great mechanical bones. IMO, the drivetrain, front & rear end work, power plant, and add-on's like the bumper and roof rack, are easily worth half your asking price in and of themselves.

GLWTS!

Ran across this ad on ABQ CL last night, did not know it was yours. Noted the hole in the foot well, the torn seat cushions, and general presence of rust. It was my perception that this vehicle might have some deferred maintenance. Your asking price is within $500 of the value of my wife's 2006 103k mile Land Cruiser that she has owned since new.

Maybe you aren't presenting it correctly given what it is and condition.
