Which speaks to the reality that you shouldn't try to defeat a tactic as a substitute for having a strategy. Technological solutions for an enemy TTP only mitigate things to buy you time to deal with the cause of violence (or find a way to leave...)
M1A1's aren't that hard to kill if you crack the fuel cell and start a fire (should be familiar given the oil cooler line stuff). Once it's burning, it's all over.
Other than MRAPs/MATV's the MTVR (aka 7 ton) made by the wonderful people of Oshkosh actually does extremely well-in fact last time I checked that was just as safe or safer than the v-hulls, mostly due to weight/height above ground.
The uparmored 110's are no better than flat bottom HMMWV's against that kind of threat-though some protection is better than none. Doug's point about the windshield illustrates well that every uparmor is just bullet resistant for a temporary period!
