I like the small winches too. I recently went to a Superwinch Rock95 from 4x4GroupBuy for a good deal complete with fairlead, hook, 50ft of 3/8" amsteel, solenoid relocation kit. Nice to have less weight up there and it has the new submersible solenoids with a 3 year warranty.

Kevin, do you have any pictures of it on your truck? My eyes are too old to make out anything from your avatar.

I would go with a Superwinch Husky 10 or 8500. Worm drives rock.

I think the avatar has my old setup with an 8274. Here is the new setup.

You have a ballpark figure in mind? I might be interested, especially if we can get our traveling salesman to assist in shipping

I just got a 8274 but I didn't realize I'd have to change bumpers, so I don't think I'll use it on my D90

Hydralic winchs are nice for drill rigs and log skidders, what you going to do when your truck inhales some water and wont start?

Here is a pic. Ignore the bumper.... it's a from a friends J**P! As far as price, I have seen used 9.5's going for anywhere from $750-900 used. I don't know where exactly to price it, but help with shipping can certainly be worked out!

I have been running a Raymart for a while. I have been real happy with it. I mounted it to the factory bumper but welded 3/4 steel all the way across the entire mount to the frame. I made my own mount. I cut out the center bar on the factory brush guard and made a new bar that wrapped around it.

Do most people believe that winches are needed in wet or dry situations?? My impression and my experience (limited) has been getting stuck in dry situations. And in those situations you're more likely to kill the battery after a few long pulls.

If you're in water that you can inhale you should either have a snorkel or don't go through the water. If you inhale water you've got much bigger problems than getting unstuck as you're likely to be SOL when you DO get pulled out of the water.

A raised air intake does not make a V8 waterproof, ignition is more likely to get you.
