550s are crap.

Get some 4000s or I have some IPF square ones that are bright.

Dan,

Don't listen to Rover owners ever about lights. Lights have become the new penis size measuring devise among Rover owners. The conversation usually goes like this:

Randon Rover Owner: (RRO) So, looks like you have a few things there, full tube buggy, mog-9's, carbon fiber body, blown reverse mounted rotary engine running on propane, huh? Yeah. Ok.

You (y): What do you wheel with?

(RRO)- I got a 92 RRC with 30in tires. BUT CHECK THIS OUT, ON THE FRONT I HAVE 7 PRO198761TF5 FALCON LIGHTS ON MY ARB BUMBER. THEN ON THE ROOF I HAVE 9 960FFPRO1CONDOR ADAMANTHIUM LIGHTS. THESE BABIES PUT OUT 12 BILLION CANDLE WATTS. IT TAKES 30 MINUTES FOR THEM TO WARM UP, BUT ONCE THEY DO, I CAN MELT SNOW. I AM SO COOL.

Moral, your lights are fine. They work well and will allow you to see fine at night. Thats all you need.

Personally, I think you're a wuss if you don't have some of these lights mounted on your truck. I use a portable generator to keep everything running

As a previous OWNER of 550's I found that they didn't really stand up to the elements. The housing is plastic as is the mount, which allowed them to wrigle loose while wheeling in the brush. They really took a beating from small pines and branches. I found myself having to re-adjust them too often. The Hella 4000's are nice because the housing and the mount are powdercoated steel. I've never had any issues with them...ever. I can't speak for the other brands, but the 4000's I have suit my needs just fine.

Yeah but when your on your way home from the trail shooting down a back road at +60mph and because you have your super bright lights you see that moose/deer/tree/mudslide/rock/UFO that is out in the road it saves your life! But you don't need 30 lights up front, For best results I have found a set of Euro type beams and a set of floods are all you need. I'm not saying everyone needs 4000s, but I have seen the difference between a 400hid and a 3000 and there is a BIG difference.
