I was contacted by someone claiming to be deaf from a Land Rover exchange ad. Everything started fine at first contact, then there was a sense of urgency with the next email on his part to have the box shipped. Then he said he will send a check for agreed price, plus shipping fees, so I could pay the shipping company who would pick it up on his behalf. Then I get an email from a so called shipping company, that cant be found on the web, claiming to have worked with "Mr Bruce" many times. Scam all the way. After telling him to F off, the next day I got some some check stolen from someone in Arizona. Cashiers checks are forged all the time, and do not always clear for several days. f you do take a cashiers check, wait to release until the bank actually has the funds. Wire transfer is the safest way

This has all the Red Flags of a scam... I had a similar situation a few years back when I was selling one of my trucks.

Being deaf is new news to me... These people are getting creative by the fricking minute. What's next??? They are blind and need a middle man to read the VIN and check info?

So the guy's name is Edward Hilton and the address he gave me is to the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza? Should I ask if he knows Paris?

I once had one of these calls from somebody in Africa wanting to buy a puppy. I later learned that this "teletype" sort of call is a cheap/free way for the person to make calls.

Funny -- just this afternoon I was talking to my banker about setting up a separate $5.00 account to tease scammers with "my bank information."
