Talking Where should we visit on our way to HHI???

My wife and I are driving from Cincinnati Ohio to Hilton Head Island South Carolina in July for vacation. Where would be a cool place inbetween Cincy and HHI to visit overnight? Oh yeah, the best part is, I'm driving the D90!!!

Whatd you have in mind? you will be coming through the NC mountains which are beautiful.... Not much else after them once you get into SC. Asheville NC looks to be around halfway?

yep. lake lure, asheville(biltmore estates), grandfather mountain. Have lunch at the vinyard restuarant in Biltmore Estates. It's awesome, and they usually have jazz playing. I believe LR has a familiarization course there too.

Also recommend the Columbia zoo, which you will most likely pass as you go through Charlotte enroute to HHI. It is a fantastic zoo, with a whole safari them layout, to include an SIII 109 HiCap as you walk in the door, and an SIII 88 safari encampment in one of the paddocks.

Yeah, my wife mentioned Asheville NC. We'll look into it. We'll more than likely go through the NC mountains.

Cheers...

Seems like the best route. When are you going to be passing through? Plenty of outdoor activities to do? Are you going to be camping or hoteling? Grandfather is a ways from Asheville. Land Rover does have a driving school at Biltmore. Maybe post over on the Discoweb, there a number of folks that live in and around the Asheville area.

Come through Atlanta and I will buy you a few beers... I need to get up you way one day soon, as I graduated from UD in Dayton, and it has been a while since I've visited.

Cincy to HHI

My parents do that drive several times a year and always stop in Ashville. My dad has even found some good trout fishing around there.

Get off the highway and drive the dirt roads through the mountains. I did it on time in the BMW, so it will just be a way to get the tires a little dirty for the 90.

Check the deals at the Grove Park Inn as well. It's a great place to stay.
