When to sell?

I have an ex client/friend who has a 1993 NAS 110. She is the mother of a past client and is the original owner. She is starting to think about selling it and called me to ask if she should sell it. What would your answer be? Do you see the market and or value of that truck going up soon?

Tell her hold onto it or let it go?

Thanks

Tyler

She's the original owner and asking you if she should hold onto it longer from an investment perspective? The only advice I'd give her is to not sell it going into (or during) the Winter months, and that mid-Summer is the hottest time in the Defender market. NAS110s don't fluctuate quite as much seasonally as D90 STs do, but either way if she wants to sell it tell her to sell it. If she wants to keep it, then keep it. NAS110 prices are already crazy high, so I'm not sure how much higher she's hoping for before she wants to sell?

The market already seems very high for NAS 110s.. You can always list it at a high price and test the market. How many miles? If its a clean low mile truck id call Keith at Copley and see what he offers you for it.

Thanks for the help. Yeah she just called me asking if she should sell it. I told her the same thing that it is up to her if she wants to keep it. But in terms of keeping it as an investment is what I was asking.

It has about 97,000 miles on it so not low mileage but it is in pretty decent shape. Never off road, just driven around town. I am going to be getting it soon to look it over closely to see what kind of condition it is in now. I saw it 5 years ago but it has sadly been outside now since then.

Has had some work, New running boards, and a R380 added.

If she's looking for a really cool D90 ST and always loved beluga black, then tell her I'd be willing to trade her straight-up for mine.

the longer it sits outside the quicker she is negating any potential upside she will see by holding on to it... Store inside or sell it before the snow flies.

I think the mileage(97,000) is much more irrelevant than the condition.
The frame/bulkhead/door bottoms could make or break a big sale.

These trucks are 23 years old so miles wont be as much of an issue as shutting a door and seeing a pile of rust fall out...

Get some undercarriage and bulkhead pictures (and a plaque picture for Josh)

I know of one well loved NAS 110 that sold locally. Its gone to a good home. The seller has a terminal illness and was organizing his affairs.
