What's the deal with 3 aux lights on the bumper?

Kind of a stupid question...but, I've noticed that most after market bumpers with light tabs (with the exception of ARB), most have 3 aux lights. Why is that the preference? Bigger spread of aux light? It seems that the two outside aux lights angle outward. Is that for corner lighting? Maybe I'm just OCD or something, but I don't really get the 3 lights.

Not sure why, but I think it looks cool. Odd numbers are kinda neat. It breaks up the otherwise chunky and evenness of the front profile. It probably gives a really good spread of light.

In my opinion, having two outside floods for cornering and close in lighting, and then a spot in the middle for long range while at speed is just about the perfect combination. I have two outside floods on my roll bar up top, and really only need one spot, but will probably end up getting two anyway.

totally agree, my headlights aren't great. But for non-city driving I really like the yellow bulbed slightly tilted out ones I have on the sides, then the clear bulbed spot pointing straight. I have the yellows on 1 circuit and the spot on a separate one.
