What's the best alternator for RRC.

I've got a new battery that seems to keep draining in my Classic. Checked the charging system and seems to be functioning properly. For some reason the battery has drained several times. Battery continues to check as "good" after a charging. Then it drains again.
I'm making car quest replace the battery regardless of what their machine says in case there's a bad cell and the machine is wrong.
If I put this new battery in and it drains again then I'll have to explore the option that it's my truck and not the damn battery.

With all this said, if I have to replace the alternator I'm curious what you guys think is the best to buy. Not looking for the same old replacement but something that performs better.

Not sure what else could be the problem but I'm guessing it'll end up being the alternator.

Thanks for any feedback.

its not the alternator its the 95 Classic. install a battery cutoff switch and memorize your radio code

I think will tillery has an AC delco with like 130/140 amps

Time to get out the multimeter and find the drain.

But regarding alternators, I upgraded with a VW Bosch unit. I'll find the link to the write up later for you.

I had a few not so great experiences with Mean Green with their alternator and starters for my RRC. I found a local auto electronics place that put in some new brushes into the stock alternator for like $85.

What's the best alternator for RRC.

It's probably the alternator. Very common for the serpentine alternators to do this. Check amp draw with the car off then recheck with alternator unhooked. They say one off a gems p38 is 140 amp, but the one I bought measured 100 at the local alternator shop

Keep in mind the 96 and later serpentine alternators off discos and p38s have a smaller pulley and will scale the tachometer and make it read very high

I bought one of Will Tillery's higher output alt deals several years ago.
That truck is now dead so I'm going to move the Tillery alt over to my Hunter.

So far today it turns out that the battery tested bad for a bad cell. (After a week ago they said it was fine) Long story behind the car quest endeavor getting another battery but seems like for the moment it was a bad new battery.

Thanks for all the feedback.
