What's my car worth

I was watching what's my car worth last night and they had a restored series II. I think it was a 67 or 69. Anyway, looked really nice and they estimated it at 55K. It went to auction and the high bid was 39K. There was a reserve so it didn't sell. Was also a White D-90 on the block behind it but they didn't cover that. Very cool truck if any of you have Directv is should air again.

Nice.

The guys on the show said, "If you're watching at home and you drive a Suburban or Explorer and think you're really macho...You're a weenie compared to this. This is a real suv."

Truck was a 67 series II A 109" in black or dark blue. Galv cappings and windscreen.

Auctioneer called it a "Series Eleven A."

Saw it too. Got a laugh at the estimate price and even thought $38k was high. Very nice and complete refurb on it but other than the price expectations when they took it out for a drive and they ground 2nd to 3rd gears, made me laugh. The explaination was double shifting was a requirement and that only gears 3rd to 4th were syncroed (is that true?). I liked the weenie comment and the fact they noted you have to pay attention to driving when behind the wheel of a land rover (my add would be excluding Rovers/LR3/freelanders).

What really got me was the unfairness of the COBRA segment late in the show - it sold for close to $500k. A 1980 barn find of an original 1963 small block COBRA with split seats, dull faded flaking paint but mechanically sound. Only 1000 Cobras build (450 small block) and it gets half a million while my 1994 Defender, one of 1600 iconic vehicles build and in the same shape is worth 3-5% of that $500k- well there is a nice white one fro $47k listed.
