I just ran the Rubicon and destroyed, not broke... destroyed, a CV on day 2 of 5. If I would have been without a spare, that 5 day trip may have been 7. Also that CV was the AEU2522 HD 110 CV.

David,

Can you explain what happened when you grenaded your CV? What circumstances?

Completely my fault.

I was high centered when the "Kid Crawler" crew rolled up, they have some crazy method of getting someone unstuck. I had 3 of them on each side rocking the truck side to side while 2 more where practically under the truck throwing rocks under the tires. Anyway I was in reverse with the wheel cranked and "pop". In all the Chaos I had forgotten my front ARB locker was on. I got off the rock to find I could only turn the wheel right and straight... no left. So we took apart the left side to find the CV was fine, of course. Then as I put the left side back together, Jack took the right side apart to find carnage.

there is a lot of torque, especially on a diesel. When the front is locked and the wheels are spinning while in full steering lock... all of the sudden you get traction and POP, it happens all the time. Without the steering at full turn it would never have happened to me on the trail. You need to be very, very careful when locked up front and using any steering. I always make it a point to keep the tire pointing straight as possible when I have the front lockers engaged.

The first time I forget and looks what happens, thankfully I had a spare. If I had Keith's new set-up I could have just called him on the Bat phone and had him bring me one, take advantage of that guarantee.

[Okay this should probably go in the vendors Loft but I'm really only doing a feeler..Looks like we can put together a complete "longfield Kit" together for short spindle Rovers. It will come with a pair of 4340/300M drop in CV's and a pair of 4340 axles for $650 per set. We're gearing up for production currently.. The CV's would have a lifetime warranty against breakage! Thoughts?

Thanks
Keith]

Sounds good to me, would definitely be interested.

Thread revival time!

Where's this at?

If I have the shorter pre ABS setup front (89RR)what do I need to do to get these, swap to abs Hubs and stubs? Will my brakes match up to the new stuff?

I'm ready to place my order, just waiting on the word.

We really enjoyed having Karen as a trail leader in Moab.
