What I love about the Rover Community.

So while at Uwharrie this weekend a few of us were hanging around the camp on Saturday when this '83 red 3 door Series 3 V8 pulls up. A young guy gets out and looks at Robert Davis' 110. Introductions are made and it turns out he (Beau) had just purchased the truck and was eager to learn about it.

One thing leads to another and next thing you know Uncle Doug, Robert, Mark G, Trey, Adam and several others have the hood up, tools out and are tearing apart the carburetors trying to see why it doesn't run right. At one point Dr. Davis called for a big hammer and you couldn't fit another body in there. I reassured him I thought he knew what he was doing. Though we didn't get it running right he got hooked up with Adam at Performance Rovers in Charlotte NC who will get him fixed up no doubt.

After that we didn't think Beau should take his truck on the trails not running on all 8 cylinders so we loaded him up in the Bag of Dicks Runner and took him out for a trail run With Mark's D1 and John in his stock P38. It was a great day and Beau is a super nice kid and a solid addition to our community.

While I shouldn't be surprised, I am never ceased to be amazed at the generosity and comradery of the Rover community and it is something to behold and fun to see Beau experience it for the first time. And it took me straight back to my first event not knowing a soul at the Conclave and being taken in by the NOVA crew. I almost got teary eyed - but I didn't 'cause I'm not a pussy.

Cheers mates!

My first event, perhaps a little more beer involved but many of the same characters though.

That's Jason, he's the co-owner of Performance Rovers in Charlotte. One of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. Of course the same could be said about any of the mugs in those pics.
