What do you think of the new Jeep?

I know it's a Jeep, but it looks pretty good to me. I'd be interested to see how it drives. I don't care for the steering on the JK very much. It wanders back and forth like sailing down the road in an old Chevy Caprice. It definitely doesn't feel like a higher quality European vehicle like the Defender.

Will only ever consider it if they can do diesel or better fuel mileage. That being said I'm waiting to see the numbers of the 2019 diesel

Still rocking the semi-floating axles.

Not sure what the M210/M220 axles are on the new Rubicon.

I like the tops. Don't like the new Rubicon decal. The front, hood, and interior is looking a little too Barbie Dream Jeepish for me. Although, this comes from a guy who paid a helluva a lot more for a much less refined clunker with no AC and no warranty, so what do I know.

They are all pieces of mass produced garbage. No soul anymore. That left with the end of the TJ.

did y'all notice the new bulge-out waist on the door and tub reminiscent of our favorite truck?

I give FCA credit for keeping the platform alive (continuously), something Land Rover obviously has failed to do with the Defender.

A JL would be more fun than an Evoque (for instance), but much of the running gear would need to be replaced for any serious off-road use.

TJ Rubicon is my favorite of the bunch. Though a 95 YJ Sahara would be pretty sweet (or just a basic 6 cyl 93/94/95 with steelies and half doors).

On the new model it appears the 2-door has a longer rear cab portion which I think looks good. I donít really like the dash matching the exterior color.

An extreme, yet legitimate accusation.

While more LGBT people probably own Jeeps than Defenders because there are more of them, the percentage is probably similar. Also, based on scientific studies there are probably no people that are 100% not-LGBT. Even those who think they aren't LGBT often find themselves in awkward situations like the Republican senator in the airport bathroom.

Yeah and those who protest too much usually are part of the demographic. You have to add the Subaru Backdoor...er...Outback to that discussion.

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

This is not an ad hominem attack, merely referencing a quotation from a well known movie.

Senator "wide stance"? - yeah, the toilets in my local Barnes & Noble always have a puddle around them, so you either have to stand in someone's pee or out yourself as...JEEP!!!

I actually drove a Korean War era Jeep occasionally while in the Army working out of Frankfurt West Germany during the early to mid 70's (cold war). A simple machine that was easy to work on. I have even helped a few Jeep drivers with trail side assistance out in the bush.... I would leave no one alone out in the places I drive... but I will never lay praise to their vehicles - especially on a Defender forum. I can only assume those who have are either wrangler'ets at heart- or related to a guy named Bergdahl...

My point was just that I don't think it's appropriate to crack jokes that 1/3 or more of our forum members view as hateful. 1/3 based on two recent surveys, one in the UK, and one in the US, were 1/3 of the participants did not identify as exclusively straight. It's a general trend that people are increasingly rejecting rigid ideas about sexuality. In Oregon and California there is now legal recognition of non-binary gender and you can have it listed on your driver's license. I know people who have done that.

UK survey: One third of young people consider themselves gay or bisexual: study | New York Post.
US survey: A third of young Americans aren’t ‘100% straight’ ¬∑ PinkNews.

Here's a study that suggests straight people don't exist. Whether true or not, it does suggest that at least most people are not exclusively straight: https://broadly.vice.com/en_us/artic...-research-says
