I thought so until I cracked my wind shield. Now I have a set that I'm about to install.

I must say the comment about hurting a pedestrian with a limb riser is one of the most bizzare even considering some of what was recently posted in the import threads.

You can get stuff to make them at a hardware store. They will look like you bought them at a hardware store when you install them.
You can spend just a little more and get the swage-lok fittings for a much cleaner look.

There was a full write-up with step by step on how to build your own. Also in the Defender Mods section on the homepage of defendersource. Search and ye shall find probably.

Frankly, I'd prefer it to look better given the choice.

Thank you!

Paul,

Nice set up. I think if I had to make a set I would use a splice rather than the clamps. The splice can be seen here (on huge wire). I have done it on smaller wire as well.

3 things wrong with that photo:

1. A Defender should never have Wrangler tires.
2. Wash the blue crap off the tires.
3. Put the white lettering on the inside.

I'm thinking Defenders that have limb risers likely have a lift or taller tires, making a truck that is already tall (comparitively), even taller...i.e. the hood is also taller. The way I'm seeing it, a pedestrian is way more likely to get knocked back rather than up and over. And if I started naming the things on my truck that could hurt a pedestrian in a collision, that'd be a long list.

The Europeans must hit a lot of people with their cars... Land Rover no longer sells brushbars because of the danger to pedestrians... Not to mention, all cars/trucks look the same, so the pedestrians don't get hurt, or so they can't identify the car... :-)

If you go to this thread http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...ad.php?t=27489 on the second page Bill posted up some info on where to get supplies to make some really nice limb raisers. He posted it right after I had bought my materials for making mine.

Putting mine on has become a bit of a ritual. It gets me excited as I know I'm headed out for fun.

Pic below of them on the rig this weekend.
