What do Defenders cost over there?

Just reading through a few posts and you seem to pay a lot for your Landys. For instance I saw in the for sale section a 1983 110 for $18000. Taking into account the current exchange rate that works out at 6k, I only paid 1k for my Defender!

Supply and demand. Only four years were imported. 93 - 110, 94, 95 and 97 - 90.

Average NAS 110 can fetch $50k +. Average nice 90 goes for at least $25k +.

83 - 110s can be imported this year. So prices may or may not react.

Yep, it's all a matter of the really small supply for the most part.

We only got 500 Defender 110's imported for 1993

And just under 4,000 D90's total in '94, '95 and '97

So, 4500 trucks total. Minus the wrecked, burned, worn out and junked.... We have probably 3500 in the country still of the original production run.

Yes my mistake, I didn't know the imports were so heavily restricted to the US.

is 4500 the definitive number? LR faq says 7059 including 110's.

I'll have to start a business exporting them! There are loads of specialists near me that restore them! Interesting fact I read is that of all the Land Rovers ever built from 1948, 75% of them are still running. There are not too many manufactuers that can claim that figure!

Now, how much would it cost me to export a Defender 130 over there...

Dont' bother, the laws are complex and inconsistent, and there are already lots of people looking to make a buck passing off old British poo to Americans looking for a cheap D.

Yeah, I think the 7000 is the more accurate number as well. Either way, that's a real low number of trucks.
