What did you get/give clients/employers this year!

Gone are the days of holiday nudie bar holiday parties, laser etched company logos on premium bottles of ouzo and the like...

What did you give to your client or employer for the holidays!

DoD/Army policies limit the cost of gifts I can give... So, that and the fact that we're deployed means that the folks who work in my HQ got a $10 gift card to the PX. My 1SG got some new darts for his dart board.

So, no laser etched bottles of booze or whatever else sort of craziness goes on in civilian workplaces.

Oh, and I definitely didn't get anything for my 'employer'.

I took the lads from my fire duty shift out for a long night at the pub and I picked up the tab. Not a real smart idea on my part considering how thirsty fireman can get - but it was a good time and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

I got a cribbage board from the CO. Cribbage is popular in the submarine service. I sent in 4 patches of the ships seal to Tervis and they put them in their tumblers. Everyone likes boat bling.

Last Feb I took over a business I invested in a couple of years ago. After some restaffing, I turned it around. My employees gave me countless hours of very hard work helping me bring the place back from the brink of closing the door to actually currently being debt free. They all received a nice cash bonus and dinner out, and my sincere gratitude.
They all can rest assured they will be very gainfully employed in the coming year.
