West Coast to East Coast Shipping

Anyone have a good recommendation for a truck shipper from LA to Northern VA? Need to ship a RRC LWB. Price is a factor, but at the same time don't want to risk the truck just to get the cheapest price. Personal recommendation would be great. Thanks.

I just used Shannon@safewaycartransport.com to ship my 110 from northern CA to nova. Price was fair, shipping was quick, and no issues.

Been looking into shipping a car myself and some of the carriers I have found are:

Montway - 888-666-8928
DAS - 866-298-4221
Coast To Coast - 800-794-9009
Alaska Vehicle Transport - 800-422-7925

These are all carriers, if you decide to go through a broker (they usually sub it out to carriers)just make sure you read the reviews on them.

Here is one site:

DAS just gave me a quote of $1108 door-to-door. Or $964 terminal-to-terminal (Gardena, CA to Manassas).

good to know, thanks. did you find there is wiggle room in their quotes? $950 door to door would be awesome.

Its so confusing who is a broker and who is an actual carrier. I am having my truck shipped right now from northern California to southern California. I went w/ Mercury Auto Transport because someone on her suggested them. They gave me a door to door quote of $299 that somehow shot up to $599 once they found a driver. They are supposed to drop the car today but I haven't heard anything. Has anyone else here worked with Mercury? I know they have some rough reviews. Seems like $599 is pretty steep for an 8 hour drive.

That sounds about right, I was in the $1,100 - $1,500 for WA to NY. A couple of brokers said they could take $100 off no problem, carriers seemed less willing to move.

So using Safeway Car Transport, as referred above, I have a door to door quote of $825 right now. Looks like I'm firming up with that one. Think it's a pretty damn good deal when I think just the gas money alone driving it would be damn near that cost. Thanks everyone.

Fwiw Shannon is no longer at Safeway, but I spoke with Mike (the owner) and will be working with him...and so far my feedback is similar to Paul's above from my talks with him. Haven't actually received the vehicle yet, but figured I'd pass this along now in case I forgot.

His assistant that I've dealt with since initial discussions can be reached at laura@safewaycartransport.com. Also fwiw he was about $200-300 cheaper than what I was being quoted elsewhere.

To close on this, my truck was delivered this weekend. Mike at Safeway Car Transport was a breeze to work with. Once the truck was finally ready for pick up (whole other story) the truck was picked up and delivered within 5 days from LA to Chantilly, VA. Total cost was $825. This was for a 1995 RRC LWB. Highly recommend them.

Lol, oh no, the Disco will be with me a long, long time. LWB will be for around town and country road trips. though with the issues i am already having with the LWB, we'll see how long it sticks around.
