Way to Redneck for the D-90 source

Does anybody know if spraying water in a glasspack while it is hot really makes it louder? If so, you don't spray it up there with the car off do you? anybody know the method? Keep in mind i am a redeck with a Defender.

I think that would break the glass the cold water and all. Why not just go splash thru some cold mtn streams at high speed. perhaps water up the exhaust not good idea, I think by the time you got it over the bend at the rear that would be alot of water in the exhaust.....

I'm going to wager that glass packs contain fiberglass matting, as opposed to thermos-like glass liners. That being said, I have no idea if water will make your packs louder. I sunburned my neck this weekend working outside, but it hasnt made me want to get glasspacks or shoot squirrels with shotguns - maybe its some other factor.

In other news, the Tdi I bought from you guys is running great - why are you all still rolling around in v8s?

You can't shoot squirrels with shotguns, they're really hard to skin if you do that. You gotta use a .22cal and hit 'em in the head.

As for making your truck louder, I recommend a hammer and a really long piece of metal. Just start banging away in your exhaust till it all falls out.

All you need to do is order a $12.00 chrome glass pack from Jegs', and if it isn't loud enough, you must already by deaf. I bought a truck that had one, and you seriously could not hear after riding in the truck for an hour.

No NO NO! The true redneck way is to swap the headers over and turn them upside down and cut some holes in the hood so they stick streight up! That will get you the best results! Then pull the coolant sensor and swap in a resistor so she always runs rich to get some flames out of da pipes!
YEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAA!

If im not mistaken glass packs aren't actually made out of glass, but have particles of glass in the muffler which makes them so loud. As for the water deal im sure it would do something but i don't know abuot making it louder.

remember "cherry bomb" mufflers? Thinking back to my redneck youth, they had glass pack around a center tube. The purpose of the fiberglass packing was to lower the tone. My adult redneck suggestion would be to get your torch out and cut out the bottom of your cats -sounds good, runs better!

WHEEEEEEEEEEEE--DOGGIES!!!!

I had no idea there were so many misconceptions about glass packs and shooting squirrels.

If you need a shotgun for squirrels stick to wheelin.

My personal favorite is my blow gun! granted you have to put a LOT of darts into those damn things... All ya gotta do is make ONE stick; the rest is easy.

Try shooting car thieves instead of those poor squirrels...

You're right

I have relatives in Canada and they go hunting around the Great Lakes whenever they can,
you know,mooses,deers,whatever...
I'd rather try hunting once in my life but more for using a rifle itself

Whoops,I went OT...

"shoot squirrels with shotguns"

I use a 12 gauge with slugs on my brother in laws farm. After about 15 rounds I finally got one--I think--not much left of it.

I dont mean to stray from the shooting, but does this mean its not normal to weld an aftermarket muffler on in place of the original and cut the exhaust pipe off in front of the rear axle, thereby making it annoyingly loud, which a particularily annoying resonance at 30-35mph? mmmh
