Wanted 2004 Defender 110

I know that I should know better asking a question like this...but has anyone heard of any Defender 110s available on our side of the pond? I am looking for a 2004 Defender 110. I remember hearing of someone in Utah that was either bringing them down from Canada or assembling them here in the U.S. as kits. Are the CKD (complete knock down kits) available yet?

Thanks,
Brian

nice...I knew this post would cause a stir. I do remember hearing of someone that was either putting them together in Utah or importing and converting the emissions. I am looking for black or silver. Where did you come across those 130s Jim?

Oh Pendy. Shame on you. You let the secret out. Where else can you buy a CKD 110 for $26K?

I heard George will even finance it with you...

First I am moving this to chit chat, second because I know George does not post here so he can't even defend himself, but Jim P does, and he can reply whatever he wants to these strange accusations! I won't hold anything he says against him.

If there are CKD kits available here in Utah, I want to know!!! :D I would probably have to talk myself into picking one of them up and starting a little project, hehe.

Kick his ass cbass!!
There's something about this one they're not going to let us FNG's in on. I don't know who George is or what the purpose of roverporn is other than to make our mouths water! It drives me bat shit to see stuff like that and not know whats going on.
Enjoy it guys, you're driving us even crazier than you think!

There are no big secrets being kept here, its just people that took a long time to figure out how to do what they want to do in their jurisidictional area dont necessarily want to explain it to every FNG that comes along. The big thing is though that the rules arent the same all over the place, so what applies in KS, TX, or LA wont necessarily apply in your neck of the woods.

Many people who have Defenders other than NAS 90's or 110's do the ECR thing - start with a donor and swap out parts. This is totally legal in all places I know of.

If you look, the 1993 Defender 110 is on the DOT list of vehicles eligible for importation. This process is a PITA and I have privately imported a car before, so take my word for it.

Lastly, there are the "quasi-legal" (or illegal) tactics used by those who are cheap, stupid, or absolutely dont care, like sneaking (smuggling0 in a non-coforming vehicle, or taking the VIN plate off of a series and slapping it on a Defender. The judge who convicts you of fraud and VIN-swapping probably wont care to hear your "grandfathers axe" semantic argument about the legality of your 1974 Series III Defender hybrid.

The material is all out there to be researched and its dry reading.

So.... what you really mean to say is:

Because of the complexities involved, there is no cut and dried answer to Brian's question. But the refrence to roverporn is a clue.... IT CAN BE DONE!!!

Rather than taking the easy path, in search of those who's credo is "build it, they will come", we should embark on a quest.

We must endeavor to achieve self-enlightenment!
I'm down with that.

I feel like David Carradine as kane in Kung Fu......

reguarding the sheep's: Here's a tip for George and Jim P--Attach some velcro to the front of your chaps! wink wink

Or am I completely off base here?

I would never trade off a sheep. But I think crazy George is more partial to neverland and Michael Jackson.

He even caters to the kids.

Hey Pendy, if you're gonna go sneaking around behind my back and posting my last year's Christmas pics, you should at least give me a credit or something.

Sheeshe. :flipoff2:

Oh, and for those who are searching for the CKD kit, quit the whining, start making some calls and you will figure out how to do it. My CrewCab didn't build itself.

If I know George, and I think i do, Roverporn. com is one big joke. Those of you have talked to George know what I am talking about. Let us hypothesize for a moment what Porn is..............something we want that we can't have. It's like holding a lollipop in front of a kid and then snatching it back before they can take it. Case closed!

It's funny this thread came up because my fiance`'s dad wants me to try and source a new 110 for him. I called ECR but...man.
I'm wonderring if I can ship a complete body over (interior too) and just stick it on a rolling chasis and not have it cost $120K.

And as for the velcro and sheep, I work with a guy from WV and he says sheep can't run if they're on their back.
