Wanna see $700 bucks in machine work

pretty impressive huh…guess the metric system down under is off by 0.71mm. Bought a 4l80e to lt-230 adapter from Marks 4wd. Specifically told them is being used with a Ashcroft Under-Drive, guess what it didn't fit…was basically told by them I'm shit out luck mate…Had to have the spline roots cut down so it fit the input gear housing.

Did you trim down their adapter or fashion a new one all-together?

had the splines deepened on their adapter…it's hardened steel, so there was additional time in cutting the root without destroying the temper…
Gotta love tucson, old school, aerospace machinists who know thier shit

Surprised they told you to bugger off; if you purchased it recently within the last 90 days; you should file a claim with your credit card company.

0.71 is nearly 30 thou, that's not insignificant. Betcha they were just trying to clean up the sloppy fit of the factory parts by tightening things up, which is probably the same thing for Ashcroft!

Would it fit a stock gear well before you had it cut?

30 thou is a lot more than you think, and there still was play when checked in the stock input gear housing. That's what I first thought too, but there was no way it was going to fit with that much difference in the spline root.
The problem is asked I asked specifically if it would fit, you would hope that instead of talking out of your ass, they'd make sure it would.
