Ha ha. Urban pacification! And what's a little scorched paint, so long as you torch the perp/carjacker! :-)

In related news, my buddy asked if he could take a picture of his daughter on the truck. I said, "Hell yeah!" This is the way it should work and the picture turned out great. Also, he is a Marine. Thank you to all who have served our great country. Happy Memorial Day fellas.

Exactly! Great shot! That's a framer! And I love the matching wing vent caps and plates on your Tithonus. Solid look!

When I was back in Flight School in Corpus Christi, since Corpus was really, really boring in the winter (kind of the only thing to do was go to Whataburger, sigh). I worked as a photographer for a modeling school on the side. I kind of needed the money, since the basic pay for an Ensign in the Navy then, back in '78 was something like $365 a month, our flight pay nearly doubled that. Besides we had loads of spare time, since the T-28's we where flying where older than we where and broke with astounding regularity (Three complete engine failures in 180 hours). Fun part was they didn't even bother to fix them anymore since they where going to salvage in a year. So with this ever decreasing pool of flyable aircraft we all where looking for activity, anything.

So If you think that model wasn't hot, well most of them are either 14 years old, or some version of a buck toothed, hose faced, gravity troubled gal. There where a few that where actually hot, but they also knew it. It was work, I got $1.00 for an 8x10 B&W print. I had a darkroom in my BOQ room, or should I say my BOQ room was a darkroom. I could do the prints for just about .01Ę. And the deal I had with the school was they bought 5 prints each each per week. Turned out to be pretty good money, at least paid for my camera obsession.

Now asking permission was paramount and professional. I occasionally used the T-28's or T-44's and occasionally the HU-16 Albatrosses the Coastie's had there as back drops. I always asked the duty officer if it was cool. Of course they always appreciated my group of ducklings dressed up and trying to act hot. So your guy acting the snot to you was indeed an invasion of your personal space. If you look over the selfie generation, not actually unusual behavior, they think they are special. Heck in his mind you should have been thanking him for using your truck as a backdrop.

On a fun note. My youngest son just got back to shore in Bahian off the USS Ponce, the one with the new high power laser that can blast aircraft out of the sky. Cool stories. No, they didn't attach it to the head of a shark yet. He did mention that "gee dad being on board ship was everything you described." (think dull, hot and smelly).

I hope that picture doesn't get anybody in trouble. Seems awfully detailed...

Not his pic, I pulled it up from the news services. Heck he would be severely punished if he took a pic of it. I mean they would make him actually eat the food in the mess or something equally as awful.

Seriously, he said the food was actually pretty good on the Ponce, much better than the Cardigan Sound. He jumps from boat to boat as an EOD anti-mining robotics specialist (he was training anti-explosives Dolphins before this).

Honestly that guy looks pretty sketchy/creepy. I doubt this is any kind of legit photography studio for "models".

Ok so come clean - do they put lasers on dolphins?

Ok, they tried sharks. Dolphins are too smart.

That pic is actually his childhood puppet, I sent it to him as a joke.

You could tell him he needs a property release to use your truck in his photos. Unfortunately, I'm not sure you have a great case against him. He doesn't need to know that though.

Read about property releases here:

I can see it now. Let's go play laser tag with Pirates off the Aftican Coast.

Anyone else have this problem?: little surface scratches at the front edge of the bonnet from neighbourhood kids that decide to hop up onto your ARB for a photo. Then their jean rivets or whatever leave these little scratches ...

So did sharks with Laser pointers glued to their noggins bring down the Malaysian Airways plane?
