Very Cool -- 1963 Land Rover Series APGP (On Ebay)

Amphibious Land Rover on Ebay. I've seen them in books, but never in person, but thought some others would enjoy taking a look, or adding it to their collection...

Very cool! Damn, I would sure be worried about puncturing one of those pontoons though...

I love it. Doesn't seem too practical though - no room for anything when carrying the hoops and pontoons!

I wouldn't trust a Landrover to float! They can't even keep rain out!

Made it further than half of the other guys, but the Hammers won.

Not to mention the oil slick you would leave in the water. It would look like the Exxon Valdez cruzing through. EPA would be all over you

Funny. I agree. In fact Dunsfold has one of these and it started to sink last time they swam it.

That would be pretty sweet to have... Certainly a hit at MAR. Who ever had it would get a lot of pressure to take it across the pond.

A year or so back a Cuban guy made a 1953 Chevy into one of those, used the Drive Shaft as the prop... The Coast Guard sent him back and sank the truck... What a shame. That guy would have been an asset to the US.

For some reason the world just loves to stop and watch something that drives on land run straight into a lake and float on water. The Amphicar was a very compromised vehicle, but never fails to attact interest at auctions.

For something this unique, $22k is pretty cheap if everything is as claimed. I imagine those pontoons may set you back some more, though. And who wouldn't be a kid 5:00 am Christmas morning heading out to the nearest lake that first time.

I like that pic at the yacht club. Can't you just see the reaction of the "but mine's two feet longer" crowd when watching the truck float around. One trip out on Labor Day weekend and you could sell it 20 times over.
