Vehicle pickup/temp storae in DC area

D90 folks:

I'm lookin for help securing a vehicle in the DC area (Laurel, MD). Its a 1981 Mercedes 300SD that I bought for my OM617 conversion. I'm looking to get it off the lot as soon as possible so no one comes along and swipes it out from under me. I've paid the small amount via money-order (per buyer's request), but anything is possible because it was such a good deal. The vehicle has sat for some time, but apparently runs. Apparently the throttle is stuck semi-open, which is allegedly a linkage issue.

I've got a few options, with you all's help. I plan to pay whoever helps - not asking for free work. You tell me what your time is worth...

1) Someone picks up the vehicle and stores it for 1-2 weeks tops until I can get up with a trailer

2) Someone picks up the vehicle and does a once-over... if it can get going in 2-3 hours, based on your assessment, then I'll take the train up and drive it down (along with a big box of tools)

My third option is to take a marathon trip up there on Monday to pick it up and make a quick turn south to get back to work on tuesday. I've got to find a trailer in the meantime.

Thanks in advance for your help and any other ideas!

I'm happy to offer up some driveway for it to sit in until you can get it. I'm in Arlington.

You might try calling a couple of independent towing services on the local Craigslist. I've had good luck with that in the past.

One last request for tow/trailer assistance from Laurel, MD to Abrooks's place in Arlington. It is about 30 miles between the two. Vehicle is paid for and I need to get it moved this week. Let me know what your time is worth and I'll ensure you are compensated monetarily along with my lifelong gratitude. A tow company will charge about $200. Thanks, Dave

Could you get this done with a AAA membership? Might call them and just be up front and say you bought this car and need it towed.
