Valet!!!!!

I'm getting anxiety about it already, I know how it's going to happen, it's playing in my head again and again like Baby Mozart for a new parent.

I'm on my Saturday date, I pick her up in the 90 and we get to the restaurant. There's no parking spots in the immediate vicinity, so I circle. I glance down and she is wear heels so big that she didn't even need to reach to get into the truck. Her poor toes are already red and blistery from the shoes of death strapped onto her little feet. What do I do? I circle again...

Damn those Valet guys. They never come to a complete stop before they shift, they don't let the truck warm up, they gun it and slam on the brakes.

It's a fucking travesty....she'll look at me with the look of "what are you to cheap to valet?" I'll look back and say "babe, i'm wasting more gas driving around than it would be to pay for the valet, I would gladly pay valet if I could park it myself....What do I do?

I'm nervous, not about the date...but about letting a minimum wage stranger drive the truck...What do we do?

This is why I like RHD. Valets have no problem letting me park my own.

Of course, I'd also suggest not wasting sympathy on a woman who wears stupid shoes. If she wants to strap her feet in torture devices, then she'd better be prepared to suffer with a smile.

In la you let them park it or at least I do all the time and mine is stick. If they can park a Ferrari I figure they can park my shitbox.

Then again I know this guy with a Ferrari who never let's valets park his cars. If he is asked his canned response is "I prefer to put the dents in myself"

Nice!

In NJ I dont have a problem with the Valet, during the winter I will remotely start the Webasto prior to getting the check and that drives them nuts (they think they left something running...

The Valet guys are not the ones to worry about, unless they are using an underground garage (check the height!!!!). I have had 3 to 4 instances at car washes where the car comes through on the automated belt and the guy goes to jump in the truck and cant figure out how to start it. Then the car behind me almost rear-ends my truck. They have shut the car wash belt down a couple times because of this..

I now go to the same place every Satruday morning and the foreman knows which guy to send to move the truck

Try it in a Series. No matter how many times I show them how to start it, they forget and I end up waiting for the truck.

I never have to worry about valets. Whenever I take my date to a restaurant, we usually hit the drive through.

I live by the motto I learned from the owners here at AB "it's insured 99.99999% of the time nothing goes wrong, If it does it's insured".

Buy a prius. Seriously the one and only thing you should worry about with a valet parking your car is that he will put it into a garage and rip off your rack or lights. LA valets are used to parking much more difficult and expensive vehicles than our british tractors but i have to remind them about the clearance.

A few months ago I had the valet bring my LR3 around with a parking ticket stuck to it. So there is that danger too.

A little secret. I use to valet. Trust me there is always (should) at least one guy that knows how to drive everything. Also learn that all cars fall into certain ways of doing things, like euro cars door key locks rotate one direction while Japanese cars rotate the other way. 90% - 95% of cars are autos 5%ish are stick. yadda yadda.

Stop being a cheap bastard and give the guy a $20 and make him leave it where you want it.

My jetta sportwagon sits out front with the astons, ferraris, bentleys etc. at my favorite steakhouse.
