You have to love Arlington Co. "Excess mileage alone is not a sufficient reason." So let's say you have a mint D90 with 3k miles on it, that counts the same as a D90 daily driver with 250k. Awesome.

Oh, snap. Guess Arlington has changed since I lived there back in 1997. And Tyler, yes, I know exactly where you're talking about. There's also that 1970's modern house, with the frat parties that end up as girl-on-girl fights at 6 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Back on topic - my '97 SW, with 125k miles, has now been assessed at 25k. $600 in taxes. My M5 is around $220 in taxes. Great.

Side note: even my wife was floored by the absurdity - guess I'll see about that appeal process.

The appeal process in Arlington is awesome. You have to have an appraisal done at your own expense on or near January 1st although you don't actually get your assessment until late August. And even if your appeal is accepted you have to do an appraisal every year that you want to appeal. So you could be assessed 18k get it appraised at 6k, get a corrected tax bill and then the next year be assessed 21k only to have to go through the whole process again.

So, after much intense research, I have found that I am doomed. I don't have body damage, significant rust, or high miles. Gonna have to lump it.

I just got my tax assessment from Durham County... they value the 90 at $4650. HA... At least it's worth more than a CFC.
