V E Day flyover in DC

On Friday the 8th there will be an honorary flyover of approximately 50 WW2 vintage military aircraft over the Lincoln, WW2 memorials.
The planes are expected to arrive at about 12:10 pm. They will continue to the Capitol where they turn south and return to their home airports.
Ww2flyover.org has details.

That's going to be awesome! Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to watch a recording, as I'm about as far away as I could be, but I'm glad to know it's happening and to watch for it!

Had 5 vintage aircraft fly over my uncle's funeral at Arlington. That was really a nice touch as he was a full bird col.

I wish we did more for V J day...just not as romantic as the european theater. Maybe we could drop a fake atomic bomb, or burn up some caves with flamethrowers on the mall or something.

Haha! Yeah. I hear the D.C. subways could use a good heat sanitization now and then!

We have an annual airshow around November here in Charlotte (down in Monroe) that brings in alot of warbirds. Last year I forgot about it, and that saturday AM I was out doing something on the 110, when low and behold I heard the absolute unmistakable sounds of a radial multi-engine aircraft. Being an absolute lover of radial engines, I immediately went into meerkat mode saying to myself "no way that is a B17, no way" and started to run around my yard doing the 360 air scan. A minute or two later, low and behold that silver beauty form the confederate air force broke the tree line and flew over my neighborhood at about 7k feet. Damn, I can still see it crystal clear.

I love frickin' warbirds. Love them.

I hope to be on the roof of my building when they come over. I'm at 3rd and independence so they will be right over head. we have a camera platform up there so that people can do standups with the cap dome behind them.

Thank you for the share. This would be sweet to see live. Nothing but goosebumps with the old birds. Simply awe inspiring to see fly.
