The entire dash is CAN bus, just like the other modern Rovers.... don't know how that plays in to things.

People the 3.2 diesel was already announced as one if the engines going into the US spec Ford Transit due out shortly.
Also the six speed MT gearbox as used in the Puma is already used behind the 3.2 in the Aussie Ford Ranger
There is another thread with this info in it inc gear ratios for that box.

The wiring on the Puma that I owned for a very short while (bummer) was actually less complicated than my Td5...ECU was mounted on the engine. Wiring loom on the Td5 going to the ECU under the seat is as big around as my arm.

I'm excited to see if the ROW Ranger comes over here finally. And that would be a sweet engine for a F-150...but I imagine they will do either or. Get rid of the F-150 and have a larger Ranger like the ROW one. Or put it in the F-150 and kill the NAS Ranger or just leave it be. Who knows what they will do.

I'm sure y'all know this, but the 2.8 Tdi derivitaive was used in South American Rangers....they called it a Powerstroke. Started out back when they discontinued Tdi production in the UK for the Td5, but needed 300's so they liscenced a company in South America to keep building them...that company then designed the 2.8...then they were bought out by Navistar, hence the Powerstroke name.....funny how Ford used what was basically a LR engine and now LR is using a Ford engine...

So is the mystery powerplant that ECR is buttoning up on a 110 the 3.2? They claim it has 400 lb ft, 25 mpg, and 50 state compliant.....

I still remember doing an easy 90mph down the highway in Botswana last year in the back of that 130. That PUMA powertrain is the bees knees.

The pro's and con's of doing 90mph in Africa is an entirely different argument for another thread.

There is also a thread on the Devon4x4 site (BigSteve) had one implanted into his 90.

Pete @ BAS Bell Auto Services did the electronic side of things.

Gearbox, MT85, was a transit spec box (bigger internals apparently) sent to Ashcrofts who fit the rear end to fit the LT230 onto it.

As said, 200bhp out the box, apparently "easily" tunable to near 300bhp.

On my wish list too :-)

So the question is has anyone in the US attempted this yet? Is anyone willing to give it a go? I have a new 110 project and would love to do this and maybe even the Icon Auto/Paddle conversion. Hit me up if your capable and up to the challenge... Preferably West Coast. Thanks

Wife loved it, and could drive the six speed better than me! But several years ago a semi sideswiped her and she rolled an H2 three times and broke her back. The puma was hurting her back on long drives, plus we had too much of our savings tied up in it, so we swapped it for a 2010 RR and put some money back in the bank.

Since they are just getting into this conversion in the UK, I'd suggest we let them figure out all the kinks over there before anyone tries to fill a contaner with the used engines and transmissions out of Transits plus all the other bits.
In the meantime, my V8 auto build continues.

Approved. Mate this to the stock puma getrag mt82 6speed that is also in the 4.0 liter bmw m3 and the ford mustang, so should be able to handle the additional displacement. Looking seriously @ doing one of these and have already spent hours researching it....
