Urban Land Cruisers Bankrupt

Good news this week for all the homeland security victims, bad news for those of us who trusted David Dearborn. Looks like ULC filed chapter 11 this week. If anyone has any ideas how we can get our money back, let me know. I'm out about $30k right now unless there's actually something to distribute to the creditors.

I've been keeping current but there's not much I could've done. You worry, but hope that worst case scenario it will be delayed. Like he kept telling me.

What had you paid? Deposit plus additional incremental deposits based on work accomplished?

Sorry, that blows. Did Ceyon Woods ever get his truck or $ back? Edit - nope as he is on the list of creditors. As well as the IRS, GA Dept of Rev, Snap-On, Matco, suppliers, shippers, banks, the OP, and what looks to be another 13 individuals.

Make sure you file the proof of claim, or whatever it's called. Also you should try and attend the meeting of creditors(?) and ask him a bunch of questions under oath.

Just spoke to him, and he sounded sincere in trying to make me whole. Still don't trust him or the process in ever being made whole, but he didn't have to talk to me today and chose to. I guess that says something.... I am hopeful that my truck and the parts that I paid for are still there and allocated as being mine throughout this process. I am very bummed about the whole thing, and was really looking forward to getting my double cab.

Wow, this is a complete shocker!
(Sarcasm font)
Sorry for those with trucks, parts or deposits with them, but let's face it, this has been inevitable.

I wouldn't read anything into him speaking to you. Courts will decide what, if anything, you'll receive. Having been a creditor in a filing I can say its not fun. You'll likely recover $0.

If he has filed, it is all out of his hands. He can't give you money or parts. At least that is how I understand the law.

Well if you have a title for your vehicle in the shop I would think you would at least not lose that.

If I had my vehicle there I would show up with the title and a Sheriffs deputy and recover my belongings. As for undelivered stuff bought and deposits you are now a creditor of have your paperwork, receipts, emails, etc in order for the hearing. If you paid with a credit card or PayPal you should be able to dispute the charges.
This sucks for all involved but nobody needed a crystal ball to see this or something similar coming down the road.

Ok... how does one buy parts that are on site? I assume there will be some sort of liquidation for the unspoken for parts that they had imported?

I wonder if he found them on Yelp. Or maybe a billboard. Ad in the Thrifty Nickel or Greensheet.
