How would it be good for the community if ULC stayed open on its present course?

The bad business closing creates an opportunity for good businesses (other community members) to gain more customers and grow.

It's asinine to think otherwise...

I have the thread, it was pulled by the admins. I started the thread

A few people touting ULC as the mecca of good quality work and business dealings lead me to drop $3,500 on a Sankey trailer. Months later, and tons of phone calls later, nothing but promises "It will be here soon, got held up in customs"...

Then I come to find out that many people already knew that this place was speeding downhill without brakes. I was lucky enough get a refund from my credit card a few months ago, and the news of their bankruptcy is not surprising.

What hurts this community is the people in the know keeping important information quiet and letting the new guys get burned. It serves absolutely no purpose to hide opinions, and in this specific case anyone who questioned the business practices at ULC earlier was completely justified. Trimming the fat is a good thing for everyone.

Disagree. We are all better off when a poorly run business fails.

There are lots of really great service providers out there. And they will get a chance to fill in when the bad businesses fail, and they will grow really great businesses. ULC's business will go elsewhere, hopefully to someone really organized and deserving.
Seriously, it's these Fuckers and people like Aaron that give us a bad name. Fuck Aaron and fuck this asshole

Unfortunately newbies and those not "in the know" get the raw end of the deal a lot of times. It sucks but that's the way it is.
I think it is great when vendors post pics of other shops shit work. Classic ECR. If you, as a shop, do the work correctly, I don't see any reason not to name and shame another shop if their work is shit.

There should be a wall of shame section of the forum for members to post pictures of shoddy work done by shops on their trucks.

I would not censor this post for instance, as Matt is obviously speaking from the heart. Although I have never had dealings with Aaron, I would bet he is a shit from everything I have read, and I almost did some business with Urban a few years ago, but realized the owner was a flake after emailing and talking to him.

Well said Matt!!!!!!

I guess when it's your money and time on the line it's your business on how you handle people like this. Throwing up the flag for posterity is cool, but they don't pick up the check.

.
I agree with both Jeff and Dave. I sent my classic to DD last March for a head gasket job, and some electrical work. It' s a 300 TDI and it ran OK after my original conversion, but after the trip to ULC, it runs 20-30 percent better. So I know the timing/ fuel adjustments were done perfectly. He has or had a very competent mechanic.

So based on that I contracted and sent my 94 D90 to ULC last August for a 300 conversion, and some other upgrades. I spent a significant amount of money on the project, so when the work was not perfect, (water pump leaked AC wasn't correctly installed), a lot of small "punch" items. But he fixed everything and sent his mechanic to my house in Charlotte to install a new P gasket, and then paid for shipping both ways to make everything else that was wrong right. All the while I'm thinking, if he has to spend this kind of money on shipping charges to fix small issues, how long can he stay in business? Anyway, I get what Jonesy was saying as well, because DD has or had some talent working for him.

Anyway we will see what happens now, and while I have followed all the threads, and. mostly stayed quiet, as I didn't feel qualified to evaluate or critisize that business. As one of my oldest clients, at age 94 used to tell me,"It's an ill wind, that doesn't blow some good..."
