UPS Blows

We keep getting email after email from UPS pushing back delivery dates on packages. Several were 2nd day guarantee deliveries that result in shipping charges being refunded. How does a company stay in business when they have to perform the job and refund the fee? Somebody in their ivory tower is going to get a pink slip for the New Years.
Rant off but I want my new IR impact wrench before the New Years.

Something is way off with them this year...I've had work/business packages that are normally 2-day ground take over a week. Personal packages same thing. This has been going on all month. Bizarre.

They delayed everything here for days and claimed "weather delay", which gets them out of their delivery guarantee. It is outright fraudulent that they claim a weather delay when it is not the case. Everyone else including the post office was delivering on time.

FedEx blows at least for shipments from Craddocks. UPS much better which means I use paddocks.

Gift for my niece shipped UPS. Package was supposed to be here about 5 days ago but the last scan on it is over a week ago at this point.

Does anyone remember that ice storm that hit Dallas a few weeks ago? That's the reason for all of this.

That storm brought everything to a crawl for about a week there and the backup couldn't be absorbed. They shipped in employees from all over the country to help and did all they could but they were too far deep in the hole at that point.

That may be their excuse for the air side but stuff from the West coast to Arizona via truck, doubt it.

Yep, storm is the reason. I still have stuff that is missing for 20 days. There are bigger things to worry about.

I'm sure that caused a lot of problems...but...my packages arrived in my city on time and then sat at the local depot for three days with "weather delay" as the reason. They simply use it as a generic excuse to get out of refunding the delivery guarantee money.

Congress should start by actually doing its own business. Keep govt. out of private business.

Btw: is usps immune to shipping trouble?

This whole ordeal really got under my skin. All of it resulted in UPS running a cost analysis and concluding that it'd be more profitable for them to risk missing shipments and dealing with the fallout rather than higher additional holiday staff to fulfill their shipments. Then their quote saying they won't ask their drivers to deliver on Christmas to give them a break is b/s. Its not the drivers fault and the drivers wouldn't have been put in that position had UPS just done what they do every year and get additional staff and trucks. All they really cared about was the bottom line, which is fine, but not when its at their customers' expense. All greed.

And yea USPS seems to be getting more reliable. When I order from Rovahfarm I started using USPS and I get my orders a day earlier sometimes.

As a shareholder of UPS you would hope that they do a few things, one of which is manage the bottom line. So if decisions mean it is more profitable they sometime make those without regard for others.
