Here are some lame cellphone pics.. day & night and a link to the ones I ended up using. I had been using those cree XPG2 leds, but they required a resistor + some thermal epoxy ... too annoying and they are HOT HOT HOT. I had some of this strip lighting laying around so I swapped to that this weekend.

just cut and solder. 12V friendly out of the box.

I added a second RRC bonnet light to the opposite side(the mounting holes are already there).
Although, the light output is certainly not blinding anyone at night...

Anyone know where to get a waterproof pin switch for an underhood led setup? I found some cheap ones on ebay but would prefer something waterproof and quality.

you could always go mercury if you can't find one that you like.

I guess as long as you orient the mercury switch so that it doesn't activate under braking you'll be ok, since its not going to ever activate under acceleration!
