Ultra Rare White D90 '95 NAS SW

I see the jokes about the desirable Alpine White station wagons. Honestly I like them. But since I don't currently own a Defender I also like Blue, Black, Green Red and Yellow.

There's a conversation on the FS forum about a color swapped 90 that got me wondering about the market. That seller's color change, yellow to black, was a only a bit less controversial than his asking price. But I get the impression that the market prefers a truck in its original color.

So the question is, what's the better decision when it comes to value - repaint a Alpine White SW that needs painting with the most popular colors (Arles Blue? or Beluga Black?) or stay original?

Unless the truck has 3 or more different colors from body panel swaps I think they shouldn't be painted ever. Maybe a NAS resto or frame up rebuild but with almost all aluminum panels the fading, scratches and dents make the Defender and especially Series. Nothing is more rad than a old Series wearing it's original paint.

Also a paint change will look like shit unless all the panels are removed and painted off the truck especially bulkhead and tub.

How would you feel about a purple Camaro SS with the L89 options

If it is an original NAS stick with the original color! otherwise i will hurt the value a lot. If it is a ROW paint it what ever color you like. There are a lot of defenders on this planet, NAS ones not so much

If it is a low mile, stock NAS truck then don't paint it... If it is a very high mileage truck, paint away. I love the Bonatti grey NAS trucks, I thought about painting my SW.

Jokes? Jokes? Clearly you don't deserve a white SW ... You should have one of those childish toy colors like blue or green!!

I wouldn't be interested in a purple Camaro any more than I would be interested in an original purple Chrysler mini-van. Forget the model, year and options. BTW, was the SS with L89 available in purple?

As for the other answers it seems that avoiding new paint and sticking with the original color is the better option for value. Thanks.

UN and protection should never be used in a sentence that way.
